Position: Account Executive

Title

Account Executive (formerly Customer Service Manager)

Purpose

The Account Executive is responsible for building excellent business relations with existing clients, thereby ensuring client satisfaction with our services, and retaining the customer for future business. The Account Executive will help our clients to better understand the full potential of our products and services and act as liaison between the client and the business for the services being used.

The Account Executive is also required to develop business relationships with new clients by identifying and visiting such clients and offering products and services to them that will meet their needs. 

The Account Executive will through his / her interaction with clients identify the need for and develop new products and services. The Account Executive will also collaborate with different team members to improve customer support and enhance customer satisfaction.

Main Duties

Act as the liaison between customers and the business by:

    • Maintaining relationships with existing customers
    • Gaining new clients
    • Gaining new business from existing and new clients to meet sales targets
    • Identifying new business opportunities for Vision Africa and recommending solutions to prospective customers
    • Creating successful promotional activities and strategies

Plan research projects in term of:

    • Project design including
      • Methodology
      • sample sizes
      • sample methods, and
      • measurement instrument design 
    • Field work planning 
    • Field budget planning 

Data analyses with the assistance of the Data Analyst and Country Manager 

Report writing with assistance of the Country Manager

Reporting lines

Report to Country Director

Works with Operations Manager to update clients on project progress

Qualification

  • Tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) in a relevant field with research related subjects.
  • A Degree in Sociology, Consumer/Industrial Psychology, Economics, Statistics, Business Management with some project management, business development, or sales management experience.  A Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 1-3 years of experience that is directly related to project management
  • Experience gained on the job on project management including budgeting and fieldwork management
  • Knowledge of research methodology, principles and procedures

Skills

  • Excellent understanding of the market research and business environment 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with colleagues and fieldwork employees

  • Meet with existing clients on a regular basis to understand clients' needs and improving relationships
  • Acquiring more clients through prospecting and canvassing
  • Developing and submitting research proposals to new and existing clients
  • Responding to request for quotations
  • Monitor projects to ensure project is delivered on time and within budget by reviewing and approving timesheets and project expenses submitted on projects

Weekly

  • Receive and review weekly project updates and investigate irregularities
  • Submit project reports to clients
  • Submit weekly client call program report
  • Ensure proper filing of all project related communication
  • Ensure proper filing of all customers related communication

Monthly

  • Ensure the timely reporting of all customer activities.

Ad-hoc

  • Negotiating the terms and conditions of a commissioned project.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment
  • Assist with the design, implementation and adherence to office policies and procedures
  • Manage internal staff relations
  • Assist with project related logistical arrangements
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of financial data
  • Ensure proper filing of customer and project records

The Research Executive assists the Client Services Manager in maintaining and growing business relationships with current clients by efficiently managing research projects conducted by Vision Africa. The Research Executive will support the Client Services Manager in helping clients to better understand the full potential of our products and services and act as liaison between the client and the business in the absence of the Client Services Manager.

The Research Executive will collaborate with different team members to manage projects and in so doing improve customer support and enhance customer satisfaction.

Main Duties

  • Plan research projects in term of:
    • Project design including
      • Methodology
      • sample sizes
      • sample methods, and
      • measurement instrument design 
    • Field work planning 
    • Field budget planning 
  • Data analyses, report writing and development of presentations with the assistance of the Client Services Manager 
  • Assist with desktop research, development of measurement instruments (questionnaires or discussion guides) with the assistance of the Client Services Manager 
  • Act as the liaison between customers and the business by addressing customer queries and updating customers on project progress I the absence of the Client Services Manager

  • Report directly to Client Services Manager with indirect reporting to Country Manager (in the absence of the Client Services Manager)
  • Works with the Operations Manager to update clients on project progress

  • A Grade 12 certificate with 3 years project management, business development, or sales management experience; or
